Bayliner Marine Corporation has produced the most popular series of motor yachts for over two decades.  As many as 10,000 Bayliner 32', 38', 45' and 47' motor yachts cruise the waters today and have an excellent reputation as a larger boat with great value. The original hull design of the Bayliner 32’ introduced to the market in 1979 was patterned after a popular East Coast trawler of the 1970’s.

The Problem

When fully loaded, these otherwise excellent motor yachts have somewhat sluggish performance and handling capability. Their semi-displacement “round chine” hulls, cannot achieve a plane without a large power requirement. Often owners will deflect the trim tabs of these vessels to their lowest positions to compensate for stability and trim. Both of these factors lead to increased fuel consumption and compromised performance.

The Solution

With the availability of advanced computer aided design technology, boat designers have found higher efficiencies and performance by modifying the vessel’s underwater shape.  An aftermarket hull adaptation produced by Cap Sante Marine, commonly referred to as an “underhull” actually changes the shape of the hull. Underhulls ® (manufactured by Cap Sante Marine, Ltd) are innovative fiberglass strakes applied to the round-chine hulls of Bayliners, which transform the hull into a true “hard-chine” hull. This hull retrofit provides the lift to plane quicker at lower power, achieving a more stable ride with better handling in all seas, and enhances the visibility at the helm. *

How it Works

Underhulls ® increase the buoyancy and lift of the aft section of the hull. Increasing the length and width of the hull creates natural and efficient hull pressure needed to plane the boat without the need of trim tabs, and engine horsepower is restored to its primary function of increasing forward hull speed.  Installation of Underhulls ® is a fast and efficient process, which does not require a long haul-out period. Most installations can be done in four days or less, depending on shop scheduling. Cap Sante Marine, performs the work at all of their locations and can get you back in the water to enjoy your “new” Bayliner quickly!
